People In Motion

What's New!

…opening doors today to create a better tomorrow for people with disabilities by

  • building awareness
  • expanding opportunities and
  • providing support

through programs and services that respect diversity and independence

Our mandate is to provide support and assistance, to the best of our ability, to any person with a disability, however we do have a special interest and expertise in those with physical disabilities. We are committed to working in partnership with other service providers to meet the needs of all.

Incorporated in 1989, we are a community-based, non-profit society and a registered charity based in Kamloops, BC and serving people with disabilities locally and within the Regional District and Health Area. A volunteer Board of Directors elected annually (of which a minimum of 51% must have a disability) governs People In Motion and reports to the membership. Staff carries out the day-to-day delivery of programs, services and the agency operation, supported by volunteers.

People In Motion is funded through fundraising initiatives including gaming, grants, donations, service contracts and numerous fee-for-service activities. We derive only a very small part of our annual budget revenues from government contracts.

We are active and advocate at all levels in the community, the region and beyond to ensure the voice of people with disabilities is heard, that they are recognized as an integral part of the community and as citizens, and that they have full opportunity to participate in all aspects of community life including the decision-making process.

    • People In Motion's Continued Support

People In Motion's summer students have been given a task in which they ask all of your help. As many people know, there is a wide gap between youth (9-12; 13-18 year olds) and adults (19 and above). The Summer students have created a survey in which they will be giving out to all those who are form the ages of 17-29 who are defined by us as young adults. The hope is that if a survey is filled out, we will be able to take the data taken from the survey to find out rough estimates on those who will be willing to participate. You can fill out this survey at home or at the office and drop it off at People in Motion, or fax it into us.

      Thank you for your Participation!

    • Scaling Back

People In Motion has been forced to scale back its activities until Spring. We hope that by March we will be able to return to normalcy and hope that you all will remain patient. The Website can be used as a great tool to assist people, without the trouble of coming to our location.
