People In Motion - Active Living Programs
We at People In Motion bring to our members nine recreational programs with two more potential programs in the future! To join our programs you must be a person with a disability. People In Motion provides support from staff, volunteers and transportation if need be.
Adult Social Club: For people with disabilities of the age of majority, the Adult Social Club enjoy recreating programs around Kamloops such as bowling, swimming, attending local events, going to the pub or out for a meal together! You may choose the events you are wanting to attend! Transportation is provided to all the events. The monthly fee is $15.00 with additional costs for some events. Tuesday Night Fitness Club: Every Tuesday we have a group that participates in a weekly fitness program from 7:00-8:30pm. Members get the chance to enjoy fitness and sports activities as well as cooperative games at the Arthur Hatton Elementary School Gym. Transportation is provided and the monthly fee is $15.00. Bowling Group: Every Monday afternoon our group plays at Bowlertime Bowling Centre from 1:30-3:30pm. Adapted equipment is available for those who need it. Members arrange their own transportation and pay their game fees. If you are interested, sign up today!
Summer Fun Bowling: Every Wednesday during July and August People In Motion is leading a group of participant bowlers at Bowlertime from 2-4PM. Registration is only $15 for non-members and free for members, so sign up today!
Crib Club: Every Tuesday from 10:30-12:00pm at People In Motion our cards group enjoys coffee and plays cribbage or other card games with our equipment. Members arrange their own transportation; there are no fees for this program! If you are interested, sign up today!
Coffee House: Feel like coming down to the office for a chat with the staff and other members of People In Motion? Come to the office on Fridays at noon for $0.25 coffee!
Young Adults Club: This summer we have started a Young Adults Club for people with disabilities. This is a club for people 19 to 29 and it provides social and recreational events where young adults can get together and have a fun time. For all those interested the poster can be reached here!
Youth Club: Youth Club is the chance for teenagers with disabilities to hang out with their peers while having fun! The youth get the chance to go to the movies, swim, camp and participate in a wide array of games! Transportation is provided and the fee is $15.00 per month. If you are interested, sign up today!
Summer Youth Recreation Program: Throughout the summer, the Summer Youth Program is a chance for children and teenagers to participate in multiple events every week. The youth get to swim, camp, do arts and crafts or hang out at the movies together! Transportation is provided and there is no cost, but we do require a $25.00 refundable deposit. Life Skills Cooking: We plan to start offering training and basic cooking skills to our members and disabled people in the community. If you are interested contact the office!
Walk and Roll: Starting on April 4, 2012, we are starting out our new program for all fitness levels! Call the office to arrange today!

Power Soccer Team: Recently, there has been a motion put forth to bring a power soccer program for People In Motion. If you are interested, call the office and let us know!
Active Living Programs Employees
Our Active Living Program Leader is Joyce Roberts, who has been apart of People In Motion since 2005. She has a diploma in Recreation Management and is certified as a School and Community Support Worker. We have a team of Active Living Program Workers with an array of certifications, each with a BC Class 4 (Unrestricted) drivers licenses. We are supported during the peak season by our summer students Tamara Turner and Trinity Bowles who are both in the process of completing their Bachelor degrees in Arts and Education. We are also excited to have our volunteer teen mentors. Some of our mentors are working in the field of occupational therapy including Canadian National Olympian Catharine Pendrel.
