Kamloops — The Kiwanis Club of Kamloops is hosting their 16th annual Christmas Toy Drive between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on September 13, 2020 in the parking lot of the Broadcast Centre on Pemberton Terrace.
The Kiwanis Club has organised a Motorcycle Toy Run for the past 15 years to collect toys for Christmas Amalgamated. This year, due to Covid 19 protocols, we are arranging this gifting opportunity as a drive through ‘Toy Drop’ for cars as well as motorcycles.
“Not all children are blessed with a family that can provide the traditional Christmas experience of toys under a tree” says Kiwanian and Toy Drop chair person Jim Waldie. “We have organized our procedures this year to manage for social distancing because of the Coronavirus. We are happy to facilitate this year’s toy drop where you drive through the Broadcast Centre grounds to drop-off a new toy for a child or teenager”.
The Kiwanis Club of Kamloops is partnered with the Broadcast Centre who is graciously allowing us to use their lot as the Toy collection site on a drive-through basis. Other partners include People in Motion, Kamloops This Week and Christmas Amalgamated who will distribute the toys.
“We are enacting Covid protocols this year with a drive-by ‘Toy Drop’ as a way for you to safely contribute a toy while practicing social distancing. We are inviting motorcyclists, classic car buffs and the general public to join in this year’s Toy Drop” says Kiwanis Secretary Roger Parkes.
