Disability Parking Permits

People in Motion is the designated provider of disability parking permits in Kamloops, BC. People in Motion issues these permits after receiving a completed application, including the applicant and physician signatures.

What are disability parking permits?

Disability Parking Permits allow permit holders to park in designated accessible parking spaces across British Columbia.

The City of Kamloops provides free parking for individuals with disabled parking permits in any City of Kamloops parking spot. This does not apply to privately managed parking lots.
Conditions:

  • You must meet the eligibility requirements for the program.
  • Only one permit per applicant will be issued.
  • Permits issues for permanent disabilities must be renewed every three years.
  • Temporary permits are valid for a maximum period of twelve (12) months.

Pass Prices

  • $40 Permanent pass (3 years)
  • $25 Temporary pass (Max 1 Year)
  • $25 Replacement fee for a lost or stolen pass

Please be advised that parking permit applications and renewals are processed exclusively during our office hours Monday through Thursday, from 9am to 3:30pm. We are closed for lunch from 12:30pm to 1pm.

Disability Parking Permit Frequently Asked Questions

Your application must be approved by a physician or nurse practitioner. They are required to sign and complete page 3 of the application to confirm your eligibility.

With a valid parking permit, you can park for free in any City of Kamloops parking stall for up to 3 hours (or up to the maximum time posted at that location). You do not have to park in an accessible parking space. This does not apply to private lots, such as those managed by Impark and the Royal Inland Hospital, which still require payment.

Important: If you do not reside in Kamloops, please check with your local municipality for information regarding its parking regulations.

Yes, valid parking permits from other Canadian provinces, territories, the United States, and Europe are recognized in BC.
Important: You must still follow all parking regulations of the municipality you are visiting.
