Learn 2 Cook

Students in our Learn 2 Cook class will learn important skills about cooking such as, food prep, kitchen clean up, kitchen safety and proper kitchen hygiene.

Our goal is for students to become more confident in the kitchen environment, gain independence, and learn how to lead a healthier lifestyle by promoting healthy food choices. 

This class is taught in a team environment allowing students build friendships, learn to socialize and work together.

Life Skills

Life Skills program focuses on expanding the range of typical day to day activities for adults living with disabilities. This goal based interactive program aims to teach while providing an inclusive environment. Curriculum is based off student needs and skill level. These can include the following:

  • Social skill development
  • Money management
  • Speech confidence
  • Reading comprehension
  • Preventing vulnerable engagements

Thompson Rivers University (TRU)
Life Skills

TRU Life Skills program is for students to maximize their full potential and personal development by:

  • Learning a variety of practical skills
  • Improving social skills
  • Strengthening community connections and knowledge
  • Increasing independence

This community based program offered through People In Motion in partnership with TRU.

TRU Life Skills Adult Upgrading Grant

Diverse Designs

Diverse Designs is a fine art based program that offers partnership with Kamloops Art Party, they provide schedule of activities, supplies and instruction. Below are some projects student have created this past year:

  • Sculpting
  • Wreath making
  • Paint pouring
  • Resin ornaments

This program requires a People In Motion membership ($10 annually), in addition to program fees.

Indigenous Crafts

Indigenous Crafts is a fun, creative and interactive program for students to learn the cultural and historical significance of the projects they are creating. 

This program will help grow students’ skills in hands-on crafting and creative thinking. Some of the projects may include:

  • Traditional beaded jewelery
  • Drums
  • Rattles
  • Bannock making

This program fully inclusive and is open to anyone who is interested in attending. This program requires a People In Motion membership ($10 annually), in addition to program fees.
